Pineda Covalin x Alejandro Glatt Fashion Week Mexico 2025 — Museo del Perfume 2026
Type: Art & Fashion Collaboration / Cultural Design Project
Description: Alejandro Glatt collaborated with Pineda Covalin, one of Mexico’s most internationally recognized luxury fashion houses, in a multidisciplinary project merging contemporary art, national identity, and high-end design. The collaboration debuted during Fashion Week Mexico — Fall/Winter 2025, presented in May 2025 at the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City (Reforma).
At the center of the runway presentation was a commemorative astronaut suit, created in collaboration with Pineda Covalin to honor the historic moment in which Glatt sent the first Mexican papaya to the Moon.
Beyond exhibiting artwork, Glatt personally walked the runway during the Fashion Week show, wearing the collaborative piece — transforming the presentation into a performative artistic statement that merged fashion, space exploration, and Mexican cultural identity. The astronaut suit translated the lunar narrative into couture, integrating Mexican craftsmanship, symbolism, and contemporary storytelling into a garment that functioned as both fashion and monument.
The collaboration extended into sculptural work through Pineda Covalin’s iconic character XICO, one of Mexico’s most recognizable cultural design symbols. For this project:
This intersection positioned the papaya within the visual language of one of Mexico’s most established luxury brands.
As part of the collaboration, Glatt’s sculptural work Portal Papaya — “Hecho en México” was exhibited at the Museo del Perfume (MUPE) during Art Week Mexico 2026.
The piece stood as a statement celebrating Mexican creativity, production, and global ambition. During the exhibition, Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Economy of Mexico, posed with the artwork — reinforcing the cultural and national significance of the project and highlighting its alignment with Mexican innovation and creative leadership. The moment symbolized the intersection of art, fashion, public life, and national pride.
Pineda Covalin is one of Mexico’s flagship luxury brands, internationally recognized for translating national identity into globally distributed fashion collections. This collaboration reinforced:
The project positioned Mexican art not only within galleries but also within runway culture, institutional spaces, and the global luxury dialogue.
