AI Film Festival — Las Flores × Papayas to the Moon was launched as an international open call inviting filmmakers, AI creators, students, and visual artists from around the world to reinterpret the papaya as a symbol of exploration, identity, futurism, and imagination. The initiative received submissions from creators across more than 10 countries, positioning the project as a global cultural platform at the intersection of art, artificial intelligence, cinema, and space. The Top 10 finalist films were publicly screened at Cinemex Insurgentes in Mexico City in a dedicated short film screening event.
The official winners were announced at Museo Soumaya, one of Mexico’s most important museum institutions, reinforcing the cultural and institutional weight of the festival. The winning short film was later presented in Miami during Art Basel week at M2 Club, expanding the project into an international art fair context and connecting the cinematic initiative with the global contemporary art circuit. The winning film will be digitally included in the cultural capsule sent to the Moon aboard the Lunaprise Mission No. 2 (Lunark) in 2026, transforming the festival into a literal interplanetary archive.
